What's stereogram?
A stereogram is an optical illusion of stereoscopic depth created from flat, two-dimensional image or images. At first sight stereogram looks like an abstract image made of repeatible patterns. But if you look at it in a special way, the hidden 3D picture will magically appear. What you will see is a relief object ot objects wrapped with the pattern you can see on 2D picture. Some stereogram don't have hidden image and consist of several objects placed in rows. When you reveal it, the objects will become threedimensional, sometimes hanging on different levels of depth. Not all stereograms are the same, there are different types and styles of stereograms.

How to see the stereograms?
If you one of those who could never see hidden image, let us teach you how to view stereograms. Once you can see stereograms well you'll be able to see stereograms in our galleries, play stereogram games and even create your own images with hidden pictures.

Who can't see stereograms?
Most people are able to see stereoscopic images, however some people with monocular vision and blind or missing eye cannot see hidden picture the way most people can. Surprizevly there is a tool on our website which allows to reveal the hidden image for people who can't see it with binocular vision.

How they are made?
There are different types of stereograms, but most popular ones, those with hidden picture, are made from two images, depth map of the hidden picture and any 2D pattern. Special software renders stereogram, by squizing, stretching and cutting the pattern based on given hidden picture. Try our simple online stereogram creation tool - Stereogram Paint

History of stereograms
Originally stereograms were known as stereoscopic cards, representing views for each eye. Invention of autostereogram was possible thank to computers. In 90`s stereograms became a world craze widely known as Magic Eye, major seller of stereogram books and posters of that time.
